A fantastic balance of high purity and refinement is demonstrated in the wine Cave de Turckheim, Gewurztraminer, Alsace AOC . Simple, elegant, wine is a classic example of the Gewurztraminer, one of the most noble varieties of Alsace. Grapes are harvested in vineyards with various soils consisting of limestone, granite, gravel, marl and sandstone. This brings different characteristics to the overall mix. Harvesting is carried out both manually and by machines, depending on the location of the vineyard. Vinification is traditional, including pneumatic pressing, controlled fermentation, sedimentation on sediment. The filtration is carried out before bottling. The potential of wine is 3-5 years.
Initially, the philosophy of the cooperative Cave de Turckheim was based on passion, respect for the vine, heritage preservation, dynamic development and innovation. It was established in 1955 to improve the reputation of Alsace wines. Currently, 216 farms are engaged in growing vines to the northwest of Colmar on the sunny slopes of Türkheim, paying special attention to the quality of grapes.
Michel Lichrmann, who has been the senior winemaker of Cave de Turckheim for more than 25 years, is firmly convinced that the quality of the wine is already laid in the berries themselves, so the transition to sustainable farming practices, biodiversity conservation and environmental protection was logical. The cooperative offers a wide range of wines in different styles, which is promoted by more than 20 different types of soil in the region. The co-ordination of the actions of all its members and attentive attitude to detail is evidenced by numerous medals and awards of Cave de Turckheim products.
