White dry wine "Castillo de Almansa" Blanco, Almansa DO is produced from a blend of grapes from the varieties of Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc. Grapes are harvested at night in the second half of August. Fermentation lasts for 30 days at a low temperature. The wine lasts 4-6 months on a thin draft with regular battonage. Producer's description
The Piqueras winery was founded in 1915 by the Piqueeras family. It is located in the region of Almansa in the south-east of Spain, 60 km from Alicante and the Mediterranean Sea. This wine-growing region is characterized by low yields due to the low amount of precipitation. Semi-arid continental climate allows to receive wines with rich color and aroma. Wines are usually made from local varieties of grapes - Garnacha Tintorora and Monastrel. In 1972 the brand "Castillo de Almansa" entered the market.
In 2001, the winery acquired the vineyard Finca los Timonares. In 2003, the opening of a new plant with an area of 7,000 sq.m. and a production capacity of 3,000,000 liters of wine.
Since 2010, the company is run by Pablo and Javier, the fourth generation of the Piqueas family. The main goal of the winemaking industry is the production of high-quality wines, which are represented in the markets of more than 40 countries of the world.
