Reviews of purchase Burggarten, Heimersheimer Spatburgunder "R", 2013
Wine of dense ruby color.
The taste of wine is fantastically rich and is revealed by a whole fireworks display of bright shades of black fruits and berries. They are complemented by velvety notes of chocolate, spices and wood. Tannins are well structured and balanced with concentrated acidity. The aftertaste is extremely long and elegant.
The aroma of wine reveals concentrated shades of black berries and cherries, which are accompanied by hints of smoke, earth, chocolate, wood, toast and minerals.
Wine is served to a variety of meat dishes, such as duck breast, lamb rack, beef, fillets, venison, boar and other game meat, grilled or barbecued, and mature cheeses.
Burggarten, Heimersheimer Spatburgunder "R" with its multifaceted, fiery character and harmoniously integrated taste of wood shades today has the status of a cult wine. In 2013, it won the first prize in the category of elite red wines of Germany. Grape vines, the yield of which is used for wine production, grow on soils with a varied composition that varies from sandstone to basalt. The grapes are collected exclusively by hand and after traditional fermentation is aged in oak barriques.
Paul Josef Schaefer and his three sons are adherents of "absolute quality winemaking", which explains the steady growth of the popularity of Weingut Burggarten wines. A wise combination of age-old traditions and innovations both in the vineyard and at the winery is the main secret of success, as members of the Schaefer family themselves believe. They cultivate their 15 hectares of vineyards in harmony with nature, carrying out constant gardening, updating the soil cover and regularly studying its samples. Thanks to the faultless quality of the grapes, wines of great depth, structure and power are created, which even the most respected critics pay tribute to.
