"Small Barrel" SMV - red semi-dry wine, which uses grape varieties Shiraz, Mourvedre and Viognier (SMV), assembled by hand in the vineyards of the region Agter-Paarl. Vinification is natural fermentation of all three varieties, malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels and aged for 18 months.
Paarl wine region is one of the most famous grape growing regions in South Africa. Located just 60 km inland from Cape Town, it is the home of such important and popular grape varieties like Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage, Shiraz. Vineyards grow on the lower slopes of Mount Paarl, on the north side of the mountain and in the valley of Simonsberg Berg River. The valley is dominated by sandy soils and higher into the mountains, the more composed of granite and slate. To survive in these conditions, the vines must fight for their existence and their roots penetrate deep into the earth to extract precious moisture. As a result, wines obtained from vineyards Paarl usually a premium. The climate is very hot and dry in the summer, with a rainy and prolonged winter.
