Reviews of purchase Babich Wines, "Black Label" Pinot Noir, Marlborough, 2017
Wine of light yellow color.
A little sweet start of tasting opens with notes of melon and peach. The finely structured taste of wine further reveals its rich bouquet with grapefruit, cashew nuts, vanilla biscuit, lemon and other citrus. Cleverly balanced aftertaste ends with delicate brackish notes of minerals.
The aroma of wine fascinates with its vitality. It is generously filled with shades of peach, apricot, apple, grapefruit and biscuit biscuits.
Wine is suitable for seafood dishes, white meat, fried chicken, mushrooms and cream sauce.
Babich Wines, Hawke's Bay Chardonnay - impressive, fresh wine in an international style, in which there is an amazing vibration, proving its high quality. As part of the classic line of wines, it has been produced since 1985 from the harvest of the Hawks Bay vineyards. Hand-picked bunches of grapes were pressed. The pressed juice was placed in stainless steel tanks and fermented at a reduced temperature. Several yeast strains were used to diversify the palette of its bouquet. Some of the wine was clarified before bottling.
In 1916, in New Zealand, the winemaker Joseph Babich created his first wine, which marked the beginning of Babich Wines . In 1910, as a fourteen-year-old boy, he left Dalmatia (part of modern Croatia) to join his brothers working in the north of New Zealand. Once in the valley of Henderson in 1919, he and his wife, Mara, broke a vineyard on an empty plot of 24 hectares. During the Second World War, winemaking became the main business of the family. In the 50s their first son, Peter Babich, joined the team, and in the 1960s became a winemaker and Joe Babić, Jr.. Together, the brothers were able to turn a small farm into a world-class wine producer.
Today Babich Wines , located in the Henderson Valley in Western Oakland, is one of New Zealand's largest family wine companies. Its success is explained by the words of Joe Babić: "We find excellent sites for vineyards in different regions and plant them with those grape varieties that perfectly blend in with earth and climate .
