August Kesseler, Pinot Noir "N" - red dry wine from the Rheingau region, whose style is very similar to Burgundy, according to critics. Exquisite, well-concentrated and balanced taste makes this wine one of the best wines of the farm. The Pinot Noir grape is harvested from vines, the age of which has reached 25 years is collected by hand. Preliminary two-day cold maceration is replaced by alcoholic fermentation, which is carried out at a temperature of 28 ° C for 10 days. After soft pressing, the wort is subjected to malolactic fermentation in already used French oak barrels. The aging of the wine lasts 12 months, before bottling the wine is filtered to achieve a characteristic glossy texture.
Experts recommend to serve August Kessler, Pinot Noir "H" for seafood and Asian cuisine.
The first stone in the foundation of the winery was laid by Josef Kesseler, who in 1924 acquired a former wine cooperative in Assmannshausen. The current owner of the company August Kesseler inherited the estate from his parents in 1977, while still a very young man, but qualitatively expanded and improved the area for vineyards to 18 hectares (44.48 hectares). Left in 19 years without his parents, he not only saved the winery, but also graduated from the gymnasium, and then the faculty of wine production, learned the skill of winemaking in France, the United States and Italy. He became the best in his business and in 1988 Augustus Kesseler became a recognized master of red wines in Germany. Wine products of the company are repeatedly noted by authoritative wine experts, awarded numerous nominations and awards. There is no place for trivialities, only the highest quality! And if the weather conditions play a cruel joke, the wine is simply not bottled - the demands on the quality of products from Kesseler are incredibly high. The winery is located in a very picturesque place - "Assmanshäuser Höllenberg", from where magnificent views of the ancient Rhine castles are opened. The average age of the vines is 50 years. Yield is maintained at a low level, and for the production of wine a harvest of exclusively manual collection with selective selection of berries is used, the collection of which lasts up to six weeks. The vines are planted on terraces with steep slopes facing west and southwest. The weathering of shale from the hills, the porosity of the soil, the high temperatures between the rows of vines favorably affect the yield, Riesling acquires a concentrated fruit taste and a living stable acidity.
