"Terras de Tavares" Reserva - delicious red wine made from the indigenous Portuguese grape varieties: Turiga Nacional and Zhaen. Harvesting is done by hand to achieve optimum fruit maturity. Berries are packed into small boxes of 15 kg and transported to the winery where the grapes is carefully sorted. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks. Aged wine in barrels of French and American oak for 3 years and bottled without filtering, where the ripening process continues for a further 5 years. Before use, it is recommended to decant the wine.
Grandson and son of farmers and winemakers, Anselmo Mendes, born in 1962 in Moncao. His fate was sealed, so Anselmo proudly engaged in the family business. In 1987 he graduated from the Technical University of Lisbon, having received higher education in the agro-industrial sector. After 6 years of post-graduate Anselmo oenology faculty at Catholic University.
"My wine never lose touch with the terroir", - says Anselmo Mendes. That is why the production economy has enjoyed success at many wine critics. In 2009, the competition "International Wine Challenge" Anselmo won the award "Muros Antigos Alvarinho", and in 2011, according to the Wine Magazine, he has become the best winemaker in Portugal.
