Tasting Notes
Plum wine-red color with terracotta reflections on the edges.
Taste wine silky and balanced, with good fresh and flexible tannins, hints of dried flowers, pine bark and forest undergrowth. This is a very harmonious and airy wine with a long and smooth finish.
The wine is full of floral aromas and notes of smoke, tobacco and loam. Initial shades of dried rose petals and ripe plums evolve into tones of tar and leather. All wrapped in a bouquet nuances figs and bay leaf.
Wine is perfect for cold meats, red meat, duck and noble game, with meat pastes and mature fragrant cheeses.
Interesting Facts
Ideal weather conditions in 1996 throughout the growing period of the ovary buds before harvest, collection of which had ended in early April to the torrential rains that allowed the grapes tie strong and healthy, to eventually achieve a uniform optimum maturity. The first wine blend "Almaviva" is the dominant Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere and Cabernet Franc. In subsequent years, the blend from year to year varied depending on the crop, not only in the number of one sort or another, but even on the varietal composition. The wine was aged in new French oak barrels for 16 months.
In 1997 Baroness Philippine de Rothschild and Eduardo Guilisasti Tagle, at the time chairman of the concern Vina Concha y Toro, signed an agreement on joint activity between Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA and concern Vina Concha y Toro. Wine produced in one of the best vineyards of Chile, created under the joint technical supervision of both partners. Name "Almaviva", despite the Spanish sound, taken from classical French literature: Count Almaviva - the hero of "The Marriage of Figaro", the famous play by Beaumarchais (1732-1799), which was later the basis for the libretto of the opera genius of Mozart. Label, in turn, pays tribute to the Chilean ancient history. Three stylized symbol on it, reflect the vision of the earth and the cosmos in the ancient civilization of Mapuche. For the first time this image appears on the ritual drum "Kultrun", used by the ancient Mapuche. The name "Almaviva" on the label reproduced handwriting Beaumarchais. Thus, the two great history and tradition teamed up to offer the world of wine, promising fun and inviting his prestige.
