Reviews of purchase "Vitiano", Umbria IGT, 2013
Wine of deep ruby red color.
Taste wine seductive, elegant, with a good balance of acidity, smooth tannins and a long finish.
The wine has a balanced flavor, where the flavors of plum and black fruit complemented by hints of black cherry jam, licorice and tobacco leaf.
The wine goes well with a variety of meat dishes and mature cheeses.
Explosive, juicy, flavorful red wine "Vitiano" - this is a real breakthrough in the field of winemaking. It is a testament to the fact that in Umbria, famous for its white wines, you can create beautiful, complex wine from red grapes. Carefully selected for wine berry Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Merlot grown in Montecchio in Orvieto, at an altitude of 300 meters above sea level. Stocking density - 6,000 vines per hectare yield is strictly limited - up to 2 kg per bush. The average age of the vines is 18 years. Harvested by hand: Merlot - in early September, Cabernet and Sangiovese - in the third week of September. After a long maceration on the skins produced fermentation of each variety separately with constant pumping in stainless steel tanks for 15 days and then - assemble and malolactic fermentation. Extract of wine made in French oak barrels for 3 months and for some time in the bottle.
Falesko Winery, owned by the brothers Riccardo and Renzo Kotarella located in Lazio, near Rome, near Lake Bolsena, in the lands where wines for centuries been famous for their quality and delivered to the courts of the Roman aristocracy and the Vatican. Founded the winery in 1979. When in the late 1970s, Ricardo Kotarella land sought to implement his plan, his choice, after a long study of the area and cultivated, and fell on the vineyard Poggio dei Dzhelsi located on the lakeside slope at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level. In addition to the extremely successful position of the vineyard, facing south-west, and the pebbly soil, enologist attracted and that in those places are ancient and rare varieties of white grapes, including the once famous and almost disappeared Rochette. Recently Falesko enriched their property acquisition Marchilyano estate, which occupies 260 hectares in the south of the picturesque hills of Orvieto in the municipality of Montague.
Both brothers Kotarella - oenologists. Ricardo Kotarella, one of the founders and owners of the Wine House Falesko - personality in Italy legendary. He was one of those who started the revival of Italian winemaking, working in almost all regions of the country. Today, he advises 65 farms, including in France. However, unlike other "touring" oenologist of the first magnitude, Ricardo Kotarella together with his younger brother Renzo, general manager of the "empire" Antinori, has his own farm Falesco. His stellar wines from one year to receive the highest ratings colleagues are perhaps the best proof of mastery. Ricardo Kotarella able to create a wine for meditation, and to accompany the dishes that for the Italian mentality, perhaps more important than self-contained product. In 2001, Ricardo Kotarella was named the best winemaker in Italy, and in the same year, along with his brother Renzo Kotarella, the title of best winemaker in the world.
