Saint Magdalene Distillery in Edinburgh was opened in 1798 by the famous Vinokur Adam Dawson. Initially, in its place was a hospital for lepers, acting from the XII century, later transformed into the monastery of St. Mary Magdalene. At that time the city was an important Linlithgow brewing and distilling center - worked here once five distilleries. Distillery Saint Magdalene worked 185 years, set a record among the plains distilleries in Scotland for the duration of the work. The distillery was closed due to the crisis in 1983.
