Whiskey Speyburn 10 years won the gold medal at the competition "World Spirits Competition" in San Francisco.
Running Speyburn distillery in 1897 was carried out in a hurry, because the owners were keen that the first seal is dated 1897 - the year of the sixtieth anniversary of Queen Victoria. Start of production was scheduled for November 1, but the first time distillation cubes have been warmed up only 15 December 1897. Because of the rush distillation began in terrible conditions at the plant were not even installed the doors and windows. In the period from 1939 to 1947 Speyburn plant was temporarily closed during the Second World War it was home to two Scottish artillery regiments.
In 1991 the plant was bought by Speyburn "Inver House Distillers", also owns distilleries Knockdhu, Balblair, Balmenach and Old Pulteney. After a few years of "Inver House" merged with the concern "Great Oriole Group". According to the annual "Malt Whisky 2006" whiskey Speyburn became one of the best-selling single malt whiskey in the United States and entered the top ten of whiskey. In 2006, the US has sold 350,000 bottles Speyburn. Today the winery produces 2000000 liters of pure alcohol per year, most of the produced malt whiskey "Speyburn" is used for blends.
