Cragganmore Distillery was founded by John Smith in 1869, it got its name from the nearby hill Craggan Mor, this place was chosen by John because of the quality of water from nearby rivers Kreggen. John Smith is considered one of the greatest producers of whiskey of his time, he invented an unusual stills, the upper part of which was T-shaped when ordinary cubes have a curved shape, such a project was created to give the drink an aristocratic character.
